AHSN
Australasian Humour Studies Network

ECR Network

An early career researcher (ECR) is any AHSN member who is in the early stages of their career. This includes graduate students, those currently pursuing an MA or a PhD, post-docs, as well as members who are returning to work or study following a career break or changing career path. We recognise that those on different career paths or at different places in their journey will have different needs, but there are many early career opportunities available that the ECR network coordinators and moderators will work to make available through member-led activities and volunteer-contributions from AHSN members as well as the regular activities of the AHSN. The network aims to offer support structures such as:

– communication opportunities between members
– opportunities for presenting work, especially through talks and online meet-ups
– the opportunity to keep informed about conferences in the field of humour and calls for papers relevant to the many contributing disciplines
– the opportunity to attend the annual AHSN conference
– opportunities for career advice and support
– help and advice when applying for research grants
– communication opportunities with a global community of humour research scholars and practitioners

We actively seek to identify areas for collaboration with other networks to support the wider international early-career community. If you would like to know more about the ECR network or how to join, please contact Ben Nickl at Benjamin.nickl@sydney.edu.au and/or join the Facebook group.
